I had this surgery last April. I am in worse condition now than I was before. I am taking more meds for pain, and have been told that I will be permanently disabled. I will also require another surgery in the next few months to remove some of the exterior bracing hardware that was placed along my spine during the fusion process (about six months). I think that the hardware is causing me a great deal of pain, and the doctor says that this is typical of atheletic people that have this surgery.
