I am 60 years old, 5' 10", 160 lb. I'm in excellent condition and exercise one to three hours a day. About five years ago my lower right back, somewhere in the vicinity of my kidney, began to get inflamed when bicycling long distances—30 to 100 miles. If I continue to cycle on a regular basis, the inflamation gets worse until I have to quit for several weeks. When I quit exercising, the pain goes away in two to four weeks. My right leg is 1/4" shorter than the left. Any relationship? I wear a 1/4" lift in the right shoe for walking. Walking gives me no problems. However, I have a rowing machine and 20 minutes or more of rowing causes the same area to become inflamed. After five years or so, the only effect of this continued inflamation seems to be a little discomfort that I can easily live with. A year or two before the pain started, I had an operation to correct a right inguinal hernia. I've always had recurring pain in the general incision area. Any relation between the two pains?
